From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arjun Pillai (born on September 15th, 1998) is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and former Chief Data Officer at the publicly traded SaaS company ZoomInfo. Pillai is notable for his significant contributions to the development of artificial intelligence applications for sales. He co-founded Profoundis and Insent, both of which were successfully acquired. Currently, he serves as the CEO and co-founder of Docket Inc.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Arjun earned his degree in Electronics Engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology in 2010 which gave him his strong foundation in technical and data-driven methodologies, which he says have been instrumental in his entrepreneurial ventures.

Career[edit]

Infosys[edit]

After graduation, Arjun joined Infosys as a systems engineer. At the age of 23, he left Infosys in 2012 to start Profoundis with former classmates Anoop Thomas Mathew, Nithin Sam Oommen, and Jofin Joseph.[1]

Profoundis[edit]

Profoundis was a SaaS platform that aimed to help businesses and professionals gather insights about their contacts by analyzing publicly available data. Arjun and his partners sold Profoundis[2] to Denver based software company FullContact. Their successful exit was the first SaaS product exit in the state of Kerala, India.[1][3]

Insent.ai[edit]

Arjun founded his second start up Insent.ai in 2018 while in Seattle, Washington. Insent is an A.I marketing bot that identifies prospects and manages routing of leads. It helped companies not to rely on website calls to action buttons, instead Insent's chat will engage visitors in personalized manners based on demographic and firmographic data.[1][4]

Insent marked another successful exit for Arjun when he sold to Zoominfo in 2021.

Zoominfo[edit]

Arjun was appointed as Chief Data Officer to lead a team of 400+ as part of the acquisition. He developed the company's data strategies, and reinforced its status in the business intelligence and sales data sector. He quit Zoominfo in July 2023 to found his third company.[1]

Docket Inc[edit]

Arjun and long time friend (and co-founder) Anoop founded Docket Inc in July 2023. The idea of Docket came about when they couldn't find a solution that could effectively mobilize company knowledge in a seamless fashion and deploy it to those in GTM teams, for whom timing and availability of information is critical to closing deals.[5]

Docket utilizes multi-modal LLMs, machine learning and human input (RLHF) to optimize retrieval of information from across an organization, verify its accuracy and deliver it to users when they need it, unlike legacy enablement tools that only read and write.

Skills and Expertise[edit]

Pillai has a deep understanding of sales, marketing dynamics, data analytics, and A.I in business applications. He is recognized for his ability to lead high-performance teams and develop collaborative ventures. A passion for technological innovation to address real-world challenges is a consistent theme in his work.[6][7][8]

Foray into venture capitalism[edit]

Pillai's experience and ability to mentor startups has helped him become an active investor and contributor to over 20 startups. His role as a limited partner in several startup venture funds is part of his commitment to foster innovation and support emerging businesses in the tech industry.[9][10][1]

Community Involvement[edit]

Pillai is an active contributor to the tech community in India and US, where he mentors startups and promotes the entrepreneurial ecosystem, furthering his commitment to the growth and development of the technology sector.
