Debabrata Majumder also known as Moloy, (born 25 April 1964) is an Indian politician from West Bengal, who has been serving as a member of the West Bengal Assembly from the Jadavpur seat since 7 May 2021.[1] A member of Trinamool Congress, he is a sitting ward corporator of Kolkata Municipal Corporation from Ward no. 97 (since 2021) and 96 (2000-2021).[2][3][4]

Early life[edit]

Majumder was born on 25 April 1964 in Kolkata. His father was Keshab Majumdar. Before joining politics, he was a chartered accountant. He earned a B.Com (Hons) from the University Of Calcutta in 1985. He completed his studies at Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1990.[5]

Career[edit]

Majumder was a member of Bharatiya Janata Party in late 90s. In 2000, he was elected as corporator from Ward 96. He was re-elected in 2005 and 2015.[6] He joined Trinamool Congress. He became ward corporator in 2021.[7][8] He become a member in The Mayor-in-Council (MMiC) holding the charge of Solid Waste Management department since 2010.[9][10] In 2012 from January till November, he got additional charge on assessment and collection department.[11]
