As the talk title says, what exactly is the purpose of this 'category', other than arbitrarily list people who once were detainees or prisoners, wherever that might have been, since it would be already mentioned in their own biography page. This category is for anyone of Polish nationality who is notable for having been a prisoner or a detainee. It is not limited to those who are presently imprisoned. That's not how categories work. It applies to anyone, past or present, who is notable for their status as a Polish prisoner or detainee. Were it not so, Category:Executed Polish people could not be a subcategory of this category, since obviously they are no longer presently detained or imprisoned.
