One person who has been listed on this page as a purported "Karaite Rabbi" I am sure will be writing separately to dispute that appellation.

I write separately to object to the classification of "Marc Serga Shapshal" as a Karaite Rabbi. Shapshal believed Jesus and Mohammud were legitimate prophets of the Lord, called himself a Hakhan (not Hakham) and was a cross wearer. Rename this category?[edit]

"Rabbi" is not the proper term for a Karaite religious leader. The appropriate term is "Hakham" and the process of becoming one is semiformal. Perhaps the category could be renamed "Karaite religious leaders" so people who don't know what "Hakham" is can use this category? --AFriedman (talk) 01:08, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree The Karaite Rabbi is totally wrong term. Rabbinic Jews are opposite to Karaite Jews.Please rename it Неполканов (talk) 14:55, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Karaite Jews[edit]

I agree with the previous post that this category should be renamed Karaite religious leaders. Also, I think that there should be a category called Category:Karaite Jews for those individuals who are Karaites but are not hakhams (or "rabbis"), e. g., J. D. Tamarkin, Adolph Joffe, etc. Category:Karaite religious leaders (or Category:Karaite rabbis) would be a subcategory of Category:Karaite Jews. EricWR (talk) 01:06, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
