Contested deletion[edit]

This category was emptied after having articles in it before that were removed by someone. I disagree with the removal and I am planning on adding them back soon. Shaliya waya (talk) 13:44, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there are enough articles/categories to warrant an eponymous category per WP:OC#Eponymous, so I boldly removed them based on that guideline. As such categorization has been involved in CFDs going back a number of years, I have brought this up for discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians#Eponymous musician categories. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 18:46, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I believe these categories are useful because they help readers navigate to articles on the subject's material. One who is interested in reading about one album or song is very likely interested in reading about others, and possibly contributing. I know I am, and I find them very useful. that is why all that is needed is the artist's albums and songs categories with a see also cat for the other. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 04:21, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, most musicians have discography pages Shaliya waya (talk) 04:16, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Which can be categorized within the albums and/or songs categories. You're saying then that most musicians should have an eponymous category. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 13:53, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
