Rename? Merge?[edit]

This isn't really an appropriate category name. "Famous" is redundant, because if it isn't famous, it should have an article in the first place. "Wild West" is kind of hard to pin down--what counts as Wild West?

I've placed this category in the parent category Category:Dueling, but that category isn't very big...maybe these entries could be absorbed into that one? I'm not sure, I'd like to discuss it a little before putting it up for renaming or merging. NickelShoe (Talk) 19:20, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am the one who created the Category, and my view of Wild West is 1855-1900 or in a setting that could be easily mistaken for the wild west. As for renaming, I can see removing famous, but I fell it is worthwhile to mention that the four dead in five seconds fight may have been the most famous fight of the old west if the gunfight of the ok corral didn't happen later that year. The Category is smallish, but there are smaller ones on wikipedia, and it hasn't had any time to grow because it was only made a day or two ago. :) - xfuture1000

I meant that Category:Dueling is small, so maybe it could be filled up with these entries instead of being a subcat. If you have a definition of Wild West, it should go on the main page so that there's set criteria. (Remember, it's not just time but also location. Certainly 1860 in India wouldn't count.) I have put the definition of Old West on the category page.- xfuture1000
