Category:Archaeology of Western Africa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Archaeology in the region of West Africa, as defined by the UN (Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Gambia, Cape Verde, and any other islands off the coast). As of now, certain countries lack categories to add to this one. Please note this category is intended for Archaeological cultures, industries, complexes (archaeological phenomena which share key traits but are evidently culturally distinct), or other traditions/complexes; it is not intended for individual Archaeological sites, which would accordingly go into the "Archaeological sites of Western Africa" category.

Put differently, an article describing the Nok Culture would be classified under this category, whereas an article which specifically describes the Nok Culture site of Nok would be classified under the Archaeological Sites category.
