 Done GA On Hold

Article(s): {{GAonhold}}

Request: Combine and possibly overlap the top two images to make the {{GAonhold}} template less bulky. Tarret 16:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion:

So you want a green equals with a pie slice taken out, or an overlapped equals/plus with a pie slice taken out? ChaosNil 17:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see, do you just want them nestled next to each other? ChaosNil
That looks good but could you move them so there not right next to each other and in more of a diagonal shape but keep them overlaped. Tarret 02:16, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I changed it as requested. ChaosNil 19:36, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that looks perfect. Might I suggest uploading it to the commons and categorizing it with the other two pictures? Tarret 20:46, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Might I suggest makin the same one but using Image:Symbol wait.svg instead of Image:Symbol neutral vote.svg to match the recent change and keep with the times? 74.116.113.241 00:43, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I changed the back symbol for the "wait" one. YK Times 23:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great suggestion. Though it seems a bit off-putting aesthetically to have them minimally overlapping... Could they overlap a bit more? --Interiot 23:46, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, sorry about that; they overlap more now. Should there be any more changes? -YK Times 01:55, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Broken .svg flag images

Great idea for a project. Best of luck with it.

A few .svg flag image files are broken, and the uploader didn't react to a message sent to him. Any help on fixing them would be great. The images in question are :

The finished images should have been like the images listed to the right but with a thin black border. These images are used in infoboxes and lists. Compare: Image:Flag of Japan.svg and Image:Flag of Japan (bordered).svg. Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 18:54, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'll try to start on this one. -YK Times 23:40, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. I just realised that one of the old versions of the Nigerian image is ok. Removed from the list. Valentinian T / C 11:10, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you need an extra image just because of a border? Just use {{border}}
I've already tried it and the vexillologist in me isn't the biggest fan of these images either. The problem is that the "border" feature doesn't go very well with the {{flagicon}} and the related "{{ISO|flag|" features. I've seen many examples of well-meaning editors creating lists that looked like a jumbled mess where the editor forgot to size all images to which he / she manually added a border two px smaller than the rest to give a consistent result (the border takes up 2x1 px by itself). The pre-bordered images are now used almost everywhere it seemed necessary and they've resulted in more consistent-looking lists. This issue is only relevant for flags with a large amount of white and the most problematic ones were the flags of Japan, South Korea and Cyprus but other images "stuck out" as well without any natural border. Valentinian T / C 19:09, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's Mexico for you, though I can't seem to see my version on Wikipedia. I uploaded it to Commons *shrug* It seems to exist fine there.≈Krasniyt/c 20:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very nice work. I've copied your version to Wikipedia as well and added a "Now Commons" tag. This seems to be the surest way to overwrite Wikipedia's own file. Valentinian T / C 22:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All done for now. Are there any more flags like this? -YK Times 03:13, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We have no more broken images. I don't remember if we have any more flags that would benefit from a border, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the help. Valentinian T / C 20:01, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Albany skyline

Article(s): Albany, New York

Request: This image is crooked and needs to be rotated several degrees clockwise. Also, perhaps the branches in the upper right corner could be removed. Thanks! --Albany NY 03:16, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion: This one shouldn't be that hard. I'll try to get rid of the branches, and colour-correct it. I should be done in a day or two. -YK Times 21:33, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK. What do you think of the one above? Does it need any more changes? -YK Times 01:47, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me. Thanks. --Albany NY 13:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Time Zones in Canada

Maps to use as reference: [1] [2]

Article(s): Time in Canada

Request: This place is quiet lately and needs a new request. I would like to request a map be created showing the time zones in Canada. I've attempted using inkscape and I am just horrible. Above are two maps that show time zones in Canada. As the country with the third most different times zones in the world, this article needs a proper map. If someone could create a map, in .svg preferably, for the Time in Canada article, it would be greatly appreciated. I didn't list a specific map from Wikipedia or Commons to use, I'll leave that up to the drawer to find one that they like best from Commons. The mysteriesofcanada map (the second link) shows the time zones best because it includes marine boundaries. The map should not include , if possible, the nearby time zones in the U.S.A, Greenland or elsewhere. Thank you for anyone who takes on this request. P.S. in return, I would be happy to peer review or help edit an article of the graphists' choice for a long job well done. Bobo is soft 04:08, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion:

There are some rather significant differences between the two maps, as well as between both of them and Image:Timezoneswest.PNG (currently used in the article). Comparing the various maps to the text of the article, the first map seems to be the worst, getting all of Saskatchewan, most of Baffin Island and parts of British Columbia wrong, while the map currently in the article seems to disagree with the text in the eastern part of Baffin Island. There are also several smaller disagreements between the maps, particularly with the marine boundaries. The job qould be a lot easier if someone could locate a definitive source, preferably even one that doesn't require too much familiarity with the geography of Canada to interpret. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 16:35, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the first map as it was wrong in many aspects. I listed a new map (now the second one), from The Atlas of Canada, a site maintained by the Government of Canada. If there were any questions about the provinces and territories, I would do my best to help. Many of the actual specifications for the boundaries are listed right in the Time in Canada article.  Done Corroboree Frog

Article(s): Will be put into Corroboree Frog

Request: Just needs to be fixed up as much as possible. Probably a sharpening, as well as enriching the colours to make it as accurate as possible. Accurate colours can be found here. This is an extrememly rare frog, possible the rarest animal in Australia. So the only images we have gotten are in zoos (behind glass) and none have been of good quality. Thanks. liquidGhoul 12:40, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion: There wasn't a whole lot to work with. There is a lot of image noise and weird stuff going on. I tried to bring down some of the background noise, while increasing the sharpness on the frog. I also attempted to color correct. The result is clearly better than the original (IMO) but I could only do so much. -Andrew c 15:20, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also found this Image:Southern Corroboree frog.jpg already existing image at the commons.-Andrew c 15:22, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks mate. I already knew of the old image, it is the current photo in the article. However, the new one shows more of the frog, even if it does have a lot of problems itself. Thanks. --liquidGhoul 23:01, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Šumadija Distric

Article(s):Šumadija District & Šumadija

Request: Bad quality image. Could really use an SVG conversion. Nmajdan 11:15, February 7, 2007 (UTC)

Graphist opinion:

This should be no problem to convert to SVG. Are there colour preferences for this sort of image? The gradients don't seem quite right and making them all the same colour seems to lose some of the point. Anyway. I'm on it. ChaosNil 06:30, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No color preference. Have at it. (I just stumbled on this article while reading randoms and thought you all could help it out.)↔NMajdantalk 13:46, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done ! ChaosNil 04:59, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great. Thanks!↔NMajdantalk 15:10, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
