I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. "theroy"[edit]

If you're going to repeatedly vandalize dinosaur articles could you at least learn how to spell "theory" please? Sheep81 05:18, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sign your name[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as in Talk:Creation#from existing matter ?, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. ∞ΣɛÞ² (τ|c) 07:13, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not for proselytizing[edit]

Do not make comments like these: "I can clearly tell you have no trust in God because you would be offended by what you said if you had any. Really go to church once and a while."[1] Your comments violate both WP:NPA and WP:NOT#SOAPBOX. Please do not continue in this manner; further personal attacks may result in your account being blocked. Wikipedia is not a discussion forum, it is an encyclopedia, and only an encyclopedia. ··coelacan 07:15, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing concerns[edit]

Pianoloverizme, welcome to wikipedia. It is always good to see another new editor willing to jump in with both feet and help us to build the encyclopedia. It has been brought to my attention that you have been involved in a little bit of conflict over at Talk:Parasaurolophus. As a more experienced editor I would be happy to help you avoid conflict and contribute in a constructive way to the encyclopedia. We were all new here once -- and it can take a little while to get the hang of things around here.

A couple of thoughts about your current conflict (and please take these as suggestions to make your experience here more pleasant -- I am not trying to be critical of you at all):

  1. You are not likely to change the status quo at an article like Parasaurolophus -- the scientific interpretation of the history of dinosaurs which is used as the basis for that article is too well-known, cited to reliable sources, and widely accepted to be overturned any time soon.
  2. However, there are other articles, specifically about the Christian interpretation of history, which you might find it easier to help improve; some good starting places might be: Creationist perspectives on dinosaurs, Creationism (and any of the topic on the sidebar in that article, especially Young Earth creationism).
  3. Always remember that talk pages are for discussing the content of articles. It is considered in appropriate to comment on other editors or their beliefs (even if they behave badly and attack your beliefs -- always take the high road). Further, you will never convert someone on a wikipedia talk page by challenging their beliefs - you would do much better to let your behavior and conduct here witness to what you believe.

Please drop a note on my talk page if I can ever be of any help to you whatsoever -- And happy editing! Pastordavid 19:06, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I noted above, it does take a while to get used to things here. The welcome message at the top of this page contains some great links to help you get aquainted with how we do things -- especially the link to the five pillars. Spending some time reading those pages would help you to get a handle on it all. Also, a good place to find area to help out on wikipedia is WikiProject Christianity - a project designed to help improve the encyclopedia's coverage of all things related to Christianity. And yes, I am a Christian -- I am a pastor of a Lutheran church (and I am also an administrator on wikipedia). Pastordavid 14:40, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

your userpage[edit]

This may surprise you, but you don't own the page at User:Pianoloverizme, and there are certain things you cannot do with it. Wikipedia:User page#What can I not have on my user page? specifically prohibits polemical statements, campaigning for or against anything. This statement crosses over that line, and it will have to be removed. Before I do so, please read the policy page I linked to so you understand why I'm doing this. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them. ··coelacan 04:41, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a soapbox. This version of the page says something about you. This version crosses over into proselytizing. Do you disagree with that assessment? ··coelacan 04:55, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a marked improvement. Thanks. ··coelacan 05:00, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
