Copyright status of South West African Stamps (1985)?[edit]
Does anyone know the Copyright Status of South West African Stamps issued in 1985. "In 1971, acting on a request for advisory opinion from the United Nations Security Council, the ICJ ruled that the continued presence of South Africa in Namibia was illegal and that South Africa was under an obligation to withdraw from Namibia immediately. It also ruled that all member states of the United Nations were under an obligation to recognize the invalidity of any act performed by South Africa on behalf of Namibia". Would the stamps issued thus be free of copyright? The territory became the independent Republic of Namibia. I had wanted to use an image of stamp to allow the stamp to be identified in a section on the stamp in the little article Zwillinge (Locomotives) but it has been deleted and is looking likely to remain so because policy seems to be "Copyrighted stamps should only be used in the article about the stamp, if there is one, and to discuss the stamp itself" see:Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2010_April_22#2010_April_9 Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 11:35, 24 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]
