The reference mentions "the 360", which (given that this is about a processor) almost certainly the System/360 computer, not its operating system. I'd love to correct this, except for the almost part: the reference supplies so little information that I just don't want to be held accountable for the edit. From reading other sources, I think ASP is one of those things that originally referred to a piece/collection of hardware but grew to encompass the associated software as well. For example, see the "Results" section here: http://www.softwarepreservation.org/projects/os/dc.html --Jhfrontz (talk) 22:10, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Pugh refers to ASP as an "OS/360 extension," so I guess the lead is correct, except maybe "I/O subsystem" might not be completely accurate. We'll have to wait for Bitsavers to get some ASP manuals. Peter Flass (talk) 14:21, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If someone in the DC metro area will pick them up and scan them, I will be happy to donate mine; I've got a lot of stuff that is not yet in bitsavers. Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 21:17, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
