Wiki Project Metro Detroit[edit]

Hi, thanks for the note. I think it should be called Wikiproject Metro Detroit, since this would bring in more participation and provide better coverage, just Detroit is too limiting. It may not be necessary since Project Michigan appears to be sufficient. It would be a good idea to start a Metro Detroit Portal. ThanksThomas Paine1776 (talk) 16:20, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, sorry for the long delay here. So, I've never really done this - what's involved in starting a portal? I'd love to help out, but I've never worked on one or anything. Where do we begin? - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 16:53, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This sample can be created and then all the content would have to be filled in, which is what takes the time. As soon as I can get around to it I can help, unless you want to get a head start, the headings are flexible of course. Here is a sample to begin the Metro Detroit portal:Portal:San Francisco Bay Area
Well, I'm new to this, but I've started a quick thing in my sandbox to get the ball rolling, so to speak. I'm pretty busy for a little while (week or so) with non-wikipedia stuff, and my internet access is limited, so feel free to change/build/edit and so on on that. I think this is going to be fun. ;) - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 16:16, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Count me in on this. --Hansj102 17:54, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Good start on your sandbox for the Metro Detroit portal. There is a Michigan portal that may give you some ideas for the Metro Detroit portal: Portal:Michigan - Thomas Paine1776 (talk) 17:00, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Packer Storage[edit]

Hello,

I was wondering if you could submit the Mr. Packer Storage page original content to me so that I could edit the content to make it more"wikipedia friendly".

Thank you

Michael Casinovacrew (talk) 04:12, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to if I could, but I'm afraid I don't have it. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 04:30, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updates on Detroit Area Council[edit]

Why must you remove information about the Detroit Area Council on their page? If you have no idea what "Marsh madness" why do you remove it? It is a program that can not be explained, you have to experience it!!!

Also, yes D-bar-A can be pristine and untouched, and still be there. It is a saying, that we know it is there, but we have not developed the land for use.

For someone that does not go to D-bar-A Scout Ranch, or Cole Canoe Base, you sure an "know-it-all" about the camps.

Firstly, it's not about what you or I know, it's about what can be verified and referenced. This is Wikipedia, not an advertisement, and the content has to be from a neutral point of view. It doesn't matter if I'm an eagle scout and I've been to D-A more times than I can count (granted, not in a few years) and Cole several times - that'd be basing an article on original research.
Secondly, regarding Marsh Madness specifically - as I said (in some variation or other) in the edit summary, there's little reason to have a a section in an article that entirely consists of a sentence or telling the reader that the subject cannot be explained. Saying that sounds like an advertisement - an attempt to draw the reader in to investigate for themselves what it's about. That isn't, however, what wikipedia is about.
Lastly, please don't take it so personally. I edited an article, not you. There's a beautiful little notice at the end of the edit page that says "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it". It's very true.
Also, if you'd like to keep discussing this, please do so on the article's talk page so everyone that edits there can participate. Signing your posts by typing ~~~~ after them also makes things easier to follow.
I look forward to editing with you. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 22:30, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wyandotte, Michigan "ballers"[edit]

It looks like it's all the same person, but only now do any of those accounts have a level 3 warning. I'll watch the page, but if they do it again and I miss it, let me know and I'll block the account (and the previous ones). Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 18:08, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, I appreciate the help. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 18:35, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

your talk page warning question[edit]

Annoyingly, people are usually allowed to remove what they want from their talk page. Luckily the blanking can be seen as a sign they're aware of the warnings. Some of his vandalism is a month old. If he continues with fresh vandalism, my advice would be to report him, but he has to have sufficient warnings. The warnings escalate in seriousness. Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace -if he acts again give him a 3rd, if again, a forth level warning, which is a 'last warning'. Then report him to to WP:AIV. You might well know all that about warnings/reporting etc.:) This is pretty much a vandalism-only account. He doesn't have many contribs, so people might well check in his contribs if he removes a warning of theirs, to see if he's done it before. I see your point, and others have warred over pages where people are doing it before, but unfortunately the person whose page it is is usually allowed to do it. It may be different if it's an IP address rather than a registered user, but it would perhaps still need some new acts/warnings before reporting. This is not my specialist subject, so the norms involving warnings etc. might not be quite as strict as this, but hope my suggestions help.:)Sticky Parkin 15:49, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hoax indeed[edit]

The use of "chit" meaning a bit of paper is well established - see wiktionary:en:chit. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 20:25, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, you're right. I genuinely apologize. I've heard the word used as a alternate form of "shit", so at the time it seemed an obvious troll. I'm sorry I judged too quickly. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 20:29, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians' reputations[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 01:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Detroit task force proposal![edit]

Hi! I heard that you are planning a Detroit portal. I proposed a Detroit task force on the WikiProject Michigan talk page. Thomas Paine pointed out that you were developing a Detroit portal. Why not make the Detroit portral one of the projects of a Detroit task force? WhisperToMe (talk) 04:34, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a good idea to me. I haven't actually worked on it in a while, and I'll be first to say that I'm really just figuring it out as I go along, though. Feel free to have at it a bit, and now that there's some other interest in it, I'll try and work on it again, too. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 14:46, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be happy to help tag all of the articles within the scope of the Detroit task force. That way everyone will know which articles are covered by the task force. In addition the portal will be a part of the task force. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:18, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Due to interest from other users, I started the task force page here Wikipedia:WikiProject Michigan/Detroit WhisperToMe (talk) 08:35, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Metro Detroit portal[edit]

I just looked at the Detroit Portal in your sandbox. I can only see the left half without scrolling. I presume this is some sort of error. I am using IE version 8 if that makes a difference. 75.41.110.200 (talk) 16:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mind if I move User:Unforgiven24/Sandbox/Portal:Metro Detroit to Portal:Detroit into the portal space now? I want to get the portal out and start linking to it from many Detroit-related articles. WhisperToMe (talk) 14:02, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free. Sorry I'm not on here as much as I used to be. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 00:11, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We've begun placing the content in the actual Portal:Metro Detroit in an easy to use format. Check it out. Thanks.Thomas Paine1776 (talk) 20:19, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Vito Campanella, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

copy paste from http://www.campanellavito.com/ingles/bio.htm hardly any improvements since 2008

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Page Deletion[edit]

why did you delete Yellow Dubmarine?

the page was created using existing formats for band pages that are in existence? they are traveling the country and people want to know about them — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pchorney (talkcontribs) 20:07, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a small clarification, I didn't delete it, I only tagged it - someone else would have to actually delete it. I tagged it for the reason it said - it was very advertising-sounding. Wikipedia tries to keep a tone of neutrality in its articles. I'm sure you love the band, but everything should try to be neutral, and since the article was overwhelmingly non-neutral, it would have to be re-written.
If you'd like to re-do the article in your sandbox, I'd be happy to look it over and make suggestions, if that would help. Just make sure it also meets the guidelines for notability for music.

A tag has been placed on • Fredrick Williams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Steve Pilling[edit]

Hello Wiki-staff.

Steve Pilling is an important person in Manchester. He's won several top restaurant awards and is highly regarded amongst chefs and owners alike. Please keep his page up as his page is a christmas present to him from many of his apprentice chefs. We've all taken it to ourselves to create his page so he has more publicity as well as a known legacy. If actresses can have a wiki page, why can't a highly reknown restaurant owner have one as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TrinityDamson (talkcontribs) 14:37, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Notability guidelines can be found in Wikipedia:Notability_(people). I'm far from perfect, if you read through that and still think I was wrong to tag the page for Speedy Deletion, create it again and I won't tag it again, though if someone else does, I'd take that as a strong indicator. Wikipedia entries aren't meant to be Christmas gifts. - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 15:47, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Edit to "The Purple Gang" page. (Eminem Lyrics)[edit]

Hi Unforgiven24,

Max here,
Just wanted to let you know that the edits you made to "The Purple Gang" wiki seem 'all good' to me..
There was just too much detail, as you'd mentioned, and it now looks tidy and is very readable.
You shortened it up nicely, and the important information still remains. Cool.

  and of course,
   thank you..

Reasong of Patrolling the page Baha Lake[edit]

What were the reasons that you patrolled the page of Baha Lake. Its a beautiful water reservoir and a charming tourist spot.Khesrawkakakhail (talk) 18:09, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Right, and the article looks fine. Marking it patrolled just means someone looked at it and thinks it looked fine, not that there's something wrong with it. :) - Unforgiven24 Talk|Contribs 18:13, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Unforgiven24,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
