Question about Elitzur-Vaidman/MZ interferometer[edit]

Thanks for your contributions! I hope you can clear this up for me. In regard to the above experiment:

If the bomb is a dud, can there ever be no photon detected at either detector?

In other words, if the bomb is a dud, and the photon remains in its superposition until it reaches the end of both the lower and upper paths and the second half-silvered mirror, can it interfere with itself destructively, resulting in no detection? Or does it always interfere with itself constructively, resulting in a detection at one of the detectors, but never the other one?

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Quantum Volume for the IonQ device[edit]

Hello. In the edit just before you added this claim, I removed the claim. Now you added it again! :) Anyways, the source you give is just to their web page? Or maybe I missed something. There seems to be a relevant press release here. Notice that they start with saying they have 32 perfect qubits, but then at the end they are saying that they have 22 algorithmic qubits, that can be used for actual quantum computing. It may be the case that the volume of 4 billion is a marketing stunt?? According to the press release they say that "We expect our 32 qubit system to provide 22 Algorithmic Qubits (AQ), a new quantum computing metric we introduced alongside our roadmap in December 2020."
