Fair use rationale for Image:GeneralmagazineTAHGC.jpg[edit]

Image:GeneralmagazineTAHGC.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The result of the move request was: moved as requested. Correct title appears to be The General, and if that is the case, magazines with ambiguous titles are qualified with (magazine) -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:51, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The General MagazineThe General (magazine)Relisted. Favonian (talk) 21:46, 12 February 2012 (UTC) More concise consistent with other Wikipedia magazine articles, and best known appellation (ie. recognizability). See for example The General index and pages throughout BoardGameGeek just call it "The General". Green Cardamom (talk) 04:07, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:

How is the proposed title more concise than the current title? It has two additional characters. Powers T 15:23, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just mean "The General" is more concise than "The General Magazine". Most people call it by the two words The General, not the three words The General Magazine, per naming rules use the most commonly used name. This format is what is typically used for wargaming magazines on Wikipedia, see The Wargamer (magazine), The Grenadier (magazine), Phoenix (wargaming magazine), Moves (magazine), The Courier (magazine), Battleplan (magazine), Ares (magazine), CHARGE! (magazine). There are a couple exceptions such as Operations Magazine, Panzerfaust Magazine but I'm not familiar enough with them to say if they are most commonly known as two words, or should be renamed to a more commonly known one-word name. But you can't ignore the parenthetical when considering conciseness. Since "The General" is not available, the two titles under consideration are "The General (magazine)" and "The General Magazine", and each has to be considered on its own merits. Powers T 17:56, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just trying to keep the naming consistent with other articles and most common usage, I asked for consensus via the rename process because the article needs admin intervention due to its currently locked from renaming due to how it was originally created due to a bug in the Wikipedia system, and is thus is forced to go through this process in order to rename, otherwise I would have just done it and I don't think anyone would have cared, not into a long discussion. To be fair we are comparing two names:
The General
The General Magazine
The title The General needs a dab (magazine), but the dab is not part of the name when looking at recognize-ability. For the purposes of concision, the dab portion probably would be factored in, so you are right I will strike out that as a reason. The dab portion is also factored in when looking at consistency since most magazine articles use a dab instead of a full name Magazine, except in minority cases where it's best known as "Foo Magazine". See [1] sections "Recognizability" and "Consistency" as reasons for the rename. Green Cardamom (talk) 22:48, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
