Why are "floating loads" (a load that is not connected to ground on either side) bad?

I don't understand what you mean. Just what kind of ground connection are we excluding here? Do you propose to build a circuit that connects to the outside world just through one wire? --Smack (talk) 00:16, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Error in sentence?[edit]

"Mains power outlets provide an easy example: they supply power at constant voltage, with electrical appliances connected to the power circuit collectively making up the load. When a high-power appliance switches on, it dramatically reduces the load impedance."

Isn't the last word wrong? I would think that impedance of the load would INCREASE when a high-power part of the load switches on... Don't they mean the VOLTAGE would be reduced? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.60.217.214 (talk) 21:28, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
