arping has been around for a long time, and yet there is *another* arping floating around - one I liked a lot - and I'll be durned if I cannot find it anywhere. It must be in my archives.....

This arping was labeled as "arping 1.0.0" and took a MAC address as an argument, then started "pinging" with ARP and the apropriate IP address (if any).

All of the other arping programs I've seen use an IP address as an argument; this one used a MAC address. For example:

arping 00:c0:e0:11:22:33

I'm not sure, but I don't believe this variant has been updated for some time now....

That would probably be my arping, as mentioned in the article. It can ping MAC addresses. It's still updated, and supported. /T.Habets 18:43, 28 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.216.200.10 (talkcontribs)
