Arbitration: Settleman

Bless you for your wisdom regarding Settleman, an editor I an "acquainted" with form the Susya page. While I will not speak to any technical violations he may have committed, I will sat that attempting to join Wikipedia in good faith is a terrible experience, there are so many rules, and so many editors who seem to delight in combat, it often feels as though they lie in ambush to tear you apart for the sheer pleasure of it. But for editors who venture in to the Israeli-Arab conflict it is much worse. Hulda, Nableezy, Nishdani, KingsIndian and several others appear to work like a tag-team. The are not only only extremely conversant with the legal minutiea of Wikipedi's arcane rules, they use them to push a strong POV. And know how to bully, intimidate, and trick new editors into crossing the innumerable red lines. They appear to have as their goal the intimidation or wearying of editors who believe that a Jewish state should exist, until those editors give up and find something more rewarding to do with their time. And I have no doubt that it works for them.

It is refreshing to see an editor like you, who can see through their destructive strategy. Thank you.E.M.Gregory (talk) 09:37, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

George, there are several violations of WP:NPA in that above message, and if you were to take a look at the user's talk page posts you will quickly find several more. Would you please advise this user on where it is appropriate to cast such aspersions and where he or she should avoid doing so? Thank you. nableezy - 18:49, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (Matthew 7:5) E.M.Gregory (talk) 12:54, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Clearly I must be a dastardly wikilawyer, not to mention intimidating to new editors, to oppose sanctions on Settleman on the WP:AE page, and also oppose hounding of E.M.Gregory by another user, while not reporting (twice) EMG's WP:1RR infraction on the same page. In case EMG is not aware, editors are naturally allowed to have POV (see WP:YESPOV) but they are not supposed to edit to advance one side. If you have evidence that I do this, please bring this to an appropriate venue. In the meantime, kindly stop casting WP:ASPERSIONS. Kingsindian  14:06, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
E.M.Gregory is on point in regard to a few editors but included some who should not have been mentioned. Nomoskedasticity complaint was nonsense of that kind, while Kingsindian for example is very honest and tries to get to the point.
There is a sense that some of the material and sources lies in a gray area and then it is all about the numbers and at the end "Kol D'Alim Gvar"[1]. What is the right forum to raise these issues? Settleman (talk) 15:13, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Settleman spends far more time in these ares than I. Relying on his judgment, I apologize to User:Kingsindian.E.M.Gregory (talk) 19:59, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Zeitgeist disruption

You blocked all but the last of the following re Talk:The Zeitgeist Movement and Talk:Zeitgeist (film series):

Would you please consider blocking the last, and semi-protecting the above pages for a significant time so the excitement wears off. Thanks. Johnuniq (talk) 09:18, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the above. It looks like the articles (1 and 2) need semiprotection as well: diff. Johnuniq (talk) 08:09, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

What should happen with repeats like Jackonafackon? Just rollback and escalate if they persist? Or rollback and notify as I'm doing now? Johnuniq (talk) 02:36, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Block, as I did last night... Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 19:06, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Invitation to subscribe to the edit filter mailing list

Hi, as a user in the edit filter manager user group we wanted to let you know about the new wikipedia-en-editfilters mailing list. As part of our recent efforts to improve the use of edit filters on the English Wikipedia it has been established as a venue for internal discussion by edit filter managers regarding private filters (those only viewable by administrators and edit filter managers) and also as a means by which non-admins can ask questions about hidden filters that wouldn't be appropriate to discuss on-wiki. As an edit filter manager we encourage you to subscribe; the more users we have in the mailing list the more useful it will be to the community. If you subscribe we will send a short email to you through Wikipedia to confirm your subscription, but let us know if you'd prefer another method of verification. I'd also like to take the opportunity to invite you to contribute to the proposed guideline for edit filter use at WP:Edit filter/Draft and the associated talk page. Thank you! Malik Shabazz arbitration case

I am not aware of too many details of the case. I also don't know how these cases work.

However I noticed that Malik Shabazz also violates Sockpuppeting rules.

He has two users: Malik Shabazz and User:MShabazz

He claims that User:MShabazz is a WP:DOPPELGANGER account.

However, not only does he use the account for editing (which violates the WP:DOPPELGANGER policy -), he also uses the account together with his Malik Shabazz account for edit warring. For example when he was harassing me and laughing at me for my mistake of editing another user's talk page he [[2]]

  • First he undid my edit with user Malik Shabazz [3]
  • Then He used his sockpupet user MShabazz to undo my edit the second time: [4]

(Then he harassed me and laughed at me and wrote: "PS: I'm sorry it took you half an hour to figure out why I gave VanEman a barnstar more than a year ago. I hope your reading skills improve." )

Is there anything that could be done now? Caseeart (talk) 05:37, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
