Dago Tea House or in Dutch colonial times known as Dago Thee Huis is one of the places that has the most beautiful panorama in the city of Bandung in the North Bandung area. Here you can enjoy the beautiful and enchanting view of the valley of Bandung city. At night, you can see the beautiful twinkling city lights from the Dago plateau. Apart from that, at Dago Tea House there is also a West Java Cultural Park which displays various West Javanese arts performances.

Dago Area[edit]

Dago is one of the most popular areas in the city of Bandung in the North Bandung area. This area, which is located in the northern part of the city of Bandung, has its own charm. In this area there are various tourist attractions and interesting culinary tourism centers. For example, the Curug Dago waterfall tour and the protected forest called Grand Forest Park. There are also historical places in Dago such as Dutch Cave and Japanese Cave. Then the Dago expansion area in the northernmost city of Bandung, known as Dago Pakar, also provides various interesting restaurants to visit while enjoying the enchanting panorama of Bandung city.

Since the Dutch colonial era, the Dago area has been the favorite place for Dutch citizens of that era. In Dago, various villas and houses belonging to Dutch residents were built with typical roads where tall trees were planted on the sides of the road. Apart from that, various public facilities were also built at this place during the Dutch colonial period. One that still survives today is ITB, which was founded in 1920. ITB was originally called Technische Hoogeschool te Bandung (THB). Apart from that, there is also the Bandung Zoo which has also been developed for a long time. Then there is also the Dago Tea House or in Dutch times it was called Dago Thee Huis which means "Dago Tea House". This place was built as a restaurant where you can enjoy drinking tea and culinary delights at that time while enjoying the natural beauty of Parahyangan at that time.

Dago Tea House[edit]

Dago Tea House is located in the Dago area at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level. The cool air makes visitors feel at home relaxing and enjoying food and drinks here. You can pass Jalan Ir. H. Juanda to reach this place almost to the northern end of this road.

Even though it was originally a place for drinking tea and eating or a restaurant, recently this place was converted into the West Java Cultural Park. In the West Java Cultural Park, various Sundanese arts and cultural performances are often held. Later the name was changed to the West Java Cultural Park Management Center under the West Java Provincial Government Tourism and Culture Service.

The purpose of establishing this Cultural Park is as a West Java cultural center or cultural heritage. In this place, performances are often held in performance venues and open-air theaters. Then there is also an art gallery which displays various traditional West Javanese arts. There is also a workshop room for various arts and cultural activities. Every week at this place there are always arts and cultural performances and performances. Meanwhile, at the end of every year, on New Year's Eve, Taman Budaya holds a Bajidoran performance.

Open Air Theater[edit]

The main building was previously used as the Dago Tea House Restaurant. It has a stage with a seating capacity that can accommodate up to 1200 spectators. The spectator seating consists of two tribunes, namely the upper tribune and the lower tribune. What's interesting is that this theater is an open theater, so the audience can also enjoy views of the beauty of the city of Bandung and enjoy the cool mountain air. Some of the regular performances here are the famous West Javanese dance, Jaipongan. Other performances include Karawitan, Angklung, Pantun Bubun, plays, Sundanese songs, Kuda Lumping, Wayang Golek, and others.

Garden Theatre[edit]

Apart from the main theatre, there is also a smaller garden theatre. You can enjoy the show while enjoying the beauty of the park here.

Exhibition Gallery[edit]

There is a gallery in the theater area which is often used as a place for art exhibitions, competitions and discussions. The gallery consists of two rooms, namely at the front and at the back. Previously, this gallery was known as "Roemah Teh" which was often used as a place to drink tea, like the name of the main place, namely Dago Tea House or Dago Tea House.

Sanggar Seni Tari[edit]

Because it functions as the Management Center for the West Java Cultural Park, there is also a dance studio here. This place is used as a training center for West Javanese dances, including Jaipongan.

Library[edit]

In the main building there is also a public library which contains a collection of arts and culture books.

Souvenir store[edit]

You can also buy various West Javanese souvenirs, including handicrafts, paintings, wayang golek, and other souvenirs.
