Reform[edit]

The bulk of this article was actually about reform math; I tried to put the reform math content in context, and keep the information about traditional math somewhat independent, which involved moving a lot of content around, but preservation of most of what was there.

This article is horribly slanted against Traditional Mathematics, and primarily discusses some new trend in math education that, to this person (who has several years of experience teaching math at the college level), seems like some new way to make students feel better about themselves, and doesn't worry about teaching actual mathematics. I would like to see this article rewritten a bit to be a little less biased against the traditional math it is supposed to talk about.

Because this is an article about traditional math instruction, I've commented out the entire reform math section, which content should be instead on the reform math page, with specific criticisms of traditional math included here on the traditional math page. All other content related to reform math should be treated as separate.
