Removing The Real Singapore write-up

According to the website's "about" page, "The Real Singapore (TRS) is a free online platform and a user-generated content site for all Singaporeans to express themselves freely and without any form of censorship." Hardly the best proclamation of reliability, as per WP:RS, since there seems to be no fact-checking or editorial control. Zhanzhao (talk) 10:49, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, but Nine News reported the same comments. Nine News is a reliable source and presumably fact-checks what they print, so it seems Kosher to go ahead and quote, particularly since this seems relevant to the question of the nature of the event. FOARP (talk) 13:18, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Racism links

1) The Daily Telegraph seems to have removed the section talking about a potential breach of anti discimination laws, however it is still referenced in the 2GB interview, and still referenced in the Yahoo Singapore article. It seems fair to restore this with different links. EDIT: Having thought about this, since the DT seems to have withdrawn this, and since these other sources only reference the DT's claim, it's probably best left out.

2) The letter to The Real Singapore is also referenced in the Singapore Yahoo article as a reliable source, and in the Nine News article as well. Since Singapore Yahoo and Nine News are reliable sources, their sources also appear reliable. It seems fair to restore the comments made by the attendant about the character of the event as a Singaporeans-only event with no people of other nationalities or races around to "annoy" them. As you'll see from the "About" page[[1]] of The Real Singapore, its a social website site that runs on contributor articles, yet the sites you listed reported them as a personal blog belonging to the author. I'm welcome to sending this to WP:RS to see how this particular context of the source holds up to scrutiny though. Either that, or a correction that attributes the quote to a contributor on a website rather than a personal blog would be more accurate as well. Zhanzhao (talk) 13:18, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

I re-added the quote but with properly explained attribution this time. Also as per the writeup from the MSN article

One attendee, Anthony Sim, took to his blog to write about his experience, celebrating the atmosphere and applauding organisers.

"It is quite heart-warming to know we are not alone. Everyone of us were on the same page," Sim wrote.

"There were no PRCs, India Indians, Bangla or Pinoys to annoy us."

Its hard to tell if the "approval/heartwarming/same page" describes the line preceeding (the atmosphere and organizers) or proceeding it (the line about the PRC/Indian etc), so I just left in the last line. Hope that's fine. Zhanzhao (talk) 13:43, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
