NPOV because of the last paragraph (now deleted by me):

  • One of the main critics of Malthusian theory, including its neo-Malthusian version, was Vladimir I. Lenin, the leader of the Bolshevik Party and main architect of the 1917 Communist Revolution that resulted in creation of Soviet Union (see, e.g., Vladimir I. Lenin 1913).

It should rather be mentioned, that marx was one of the main critics - Lenin just used marx' thoughts for his propaganda...

Response to above anonymous contributor User_talk:217.24.207.26: Since you are knowledgeable about Marx's critique you ought to contribute to the article accordingly. But your distinction between Marx's 'thoughts' and Lenin's 'propaganda' discounts Lenin's significant influence on communist theory, particularly in the development of Maoism... At any rate, Lenin deserves mention for having written a tract on the issue. Even if you and I do not respect his conclusions, the fact that they have been influential should merit our notice. This is why I have restored the reference to Lenin. Schellshock (talk) 07:06, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Malthusianism vs Neo-Malthusianism[edit]

What's the difference between Malthusianism and Neo-Malthusianism? Neither article differentiates them. If there's no clear distinction we should probably merge Neo-Malthusianism into the Malthusianism article.   Will Beback  talk  20:43, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other than noting that the term is most often used as a contemporary perjorative (somewhat important), this could be redirected. I seldom find any mention of someone describing themselves as a malthusian or neo-malthusian. The closest thing to that was a page of jokes directed at those who deny the potential problems, it was in a blog called The foolish pursuit of Economic Growth. I agree that it could be redirected to one the malthusian articles and the perjorative use, could be noted there. 172.165.37.62 (talk) 00:11, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Define the Term[edit]

The online dictionary defines it as- advocating control of population growth (as by contraception) This is how Lenin used the term opposing birth control and abortion for the working class and supporting it for the middle classes. There should be specific examples of who uses the term in any other fashion. Nitpyck (talk) 21:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
