not a messed up move[edit]

I am the one who made this the EG article a redirect. This was a deliberate decision, not a messed up move, as I found two separate, but identical articles. I twas puzzled about what had happened so I just spent a few minutes looking at the history of the two pages and see that User:Stephen2810 started the E G Trobridge article back in May In the sandbox and submitted it for review on July 11: this was then reviewed and moved to article space on July 16.However, in between his submission and the approval (on July 12) S2810 went ahead and created the Ernest George Trobridge article in article space. Hence the 2 articles. My 2c are that the best way of tidying up is just to delete this the EG article: on reconsideration I don't think that we really need a redirect from E G Trobridge Quiet Editor (talk) 17:09, 18 July 2012 (UTC) (updated to clarify - I intended to write this on the talk page for the EG article Quiet Editor (talk) 08:48, 19 July 2012 (UTC))[reply]

What's the harm in merging the edit histories? Wouldn't that clarify to future editors what you have described? Matt (talk) 00:21, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe? But trying to merge histories from two parallel developments sounds messy to me. In any case the history merge was declined, so we're left with the EG article as a redirect. I'm going to leave it there. If anyone else has strong views, then have at it! 08:48, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
I have no problem with E G Trobridge being a redirect. Matt (talk) 10:10, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
