Request for assistance with the Spokane, WA GAN

I would like all willing editors to help with the Spokane, Washington article. This article is all but guaranteed to reach GA status, and I think it has matured enough to nominate it as a FAC after it achieves GA status. It would also be real nice if we had some more editors on this article, I feel the article has been neglected by the WikiProject Washington community. I've gotten lonely the past few weeks editing this article pretty much by myself, and I would be appreciative if others would help this Washington–related article in its' time of need, I've heard the FAC gauntlet can be quite arduous.

Thank you, Anon134 (talk) 06:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Depends, you going to help with the Seattle FAR? I haven't had much time/interest in responding to the latest issues identified by the reviewers and I'd imagine that if the issues identified are not improved in the near future the article is going to go into the WP:FARC process and shortly there after lose the golden star. --Bobblehead (rants) 02:26, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Apparently Bobblehead has lost interest because of reasons unknown to me...but if others would like to help this Washington related article, feel free to help.

Bobblehead, I didnt know this was a quid pro quo relationship and you wanted something in return...Im trying to help a Washington-related article improve on the quality scale --im helping this WikiProject. Isnt that what this is all about? The Seattle article isnt the only article in this project. In my opinion it shouldnt matter what article im improving in this Project --Im not even in this project, and im helping it-- I ask for nothing in return, just some help from people who are already in this WikiProject (whos stated mission and goals are to improve Washington articles).

I dont understand why you are asking me why you (someone in the Washington WikiProject) should help an article within this WikiProject improve, and asking for something in return (from someone who isnt in this WikiProject and doesnt live in Wasihngton). I see that you are also in WikiProject EasternWashington group as well, which confuses me even further. Im not editing the Seattle article because it is already featured; im sorry for that, Bobblehead. But, I thought you and people in this WikiProject cared and were interested in improving Washington related articles...it sounds like this isnt exactly true. If It should be known that i've never lived in Washington, I go to school at WSU, but live in San Diego, California; I still need help from Washington natives.

Now, if you are referring to the Spokane article in the second sentence (no subject in the sentece), then I also dont understand why you didnt discuss these issues in the Talk when I told you of my intentions to do that earlier (simply saying its not worth the effort to get it featured), I would like you to share what those issues are, if you become interested again you could come back and share them with the editors of the article so we can improve upon them. I think we should strive for excellence for all WikiProject Washington articles.

Anon134 (talk) 20:00, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Yup. Further proof that sarcasm doesn't translate well in text. :) --Bobblehead (rants) 19:42, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

user:VegitaU earlier removed a link from Louie Sam as the version of Firefox they're using tripped it up for allegedly having malware. Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:58, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Would like some help

Last time I asked didnt yield any results, but I can always hope for better. Ive been editing the Spokane, Washington article almost exclusively for the last several months, and I think it would be fantastic if others could either join in on the fun and edit, or if not that, point out some problems and concerns or float ideas on how to improve the articles quality on the Talk page. I know the Spokane article isnt even rated on the WikiProject importance scale, but I think it is worthy of some attention. The article is a Good Article and has potential to be featured if we put a little more time and effort into it. Also, if you know anything about the golden state, feel free to join WikiProject California! Thanks a bunch, Anon134 (talk) 23:23, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Adding Homeowners Associations to External Links

I'm interested in adding some links to applicable Homeowners Associations to the External Links section of Seattle Hill-Silver Firs, Washington. According to the policies, it seems that this is permissible. Please let me know if I am incorrect.

To the same section, I would also like to add a link to a discussion group for residents of this area. That seems to go against the policy. However, if it is a discussion group specific for the residents, then does that make it permissible?

Thanks for the input. StephenWA (talk) 18:04, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Without the proposed Homeowners Association link to review, it's difficult to give a clear answer on this. If the association represents a significant percentage of the population in the region, then it may be appropriate; if it's just one of several homeowners associations in a region, then it's not really appropriate as it would be too small of a subset of the true subject of the article.
The discussion group should not be added; remember, the Wikipedia entry for the region is not intended to provide residents of that region with an internet directory. Links to discussion groups/forums/etc are routinely removed from articles as linkspam that violate WP:ELNO and WP:NOT#REPOSITORY. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:26, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Pegasus crossing in Redmond

I just randomly ran across the article about Pegasus crossings, and remembered the one on Avondale in Redmond. Can anyone get a picture, or a description from a reliable source? I'm a bit out of area these days. :-)--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 03:11, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Norman Bridge

Anyone know anything about the Norman Bridge in North Bend Washington? It's a wooden truss bridge listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and I see a few references to it online, but I suspect it has been demolished some time in the last few years. I went looking for it today, and found a place where I suspect a bridge may recently have been (two "matching" small parking lots on either side of a river just off of 428th Ave. SE), but no bridge. - Jmabel | Talk 06:50, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.

We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.

If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 06:56, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Just pulled this one out of the speedy queue, maybe someone wants to fix it up a bit. Btw, I decline and prod a fair number of speedies, and I always add project tags when I do, which means they'll show up on your project page under "Article Alerts". - Dank (push to talk) 03:29, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Washington renaming to Washington (U.S. state)

That renaming is really causing a headache, as there must be thousands of articles whose links to the Washington article were broken. I'm probably the only one repairing these links at the moment, and maybe some others could join in this attempt? (The broken link is probably misleading a bunch of visitors to Wikipedia.) Creating stubs for state parks that are currently redlinks

Hi all, I'm going to try and add stubs for as many state parks as I can, since currently more than half of them are redlinks at Template:Protected Areas of Washington. To that end, here's some generic edit text I put together to make it easy to put together consistent, generic stubs. Anyone else who wants to work on these should jump right in; we're blessed with a state that has plenty of parks to go around.

Terms in CAPS are my generic reminders that need to be filled in with specific appropriate details. The only two references needed are the GNIS record, which should be easy to search for here and the specific park's Web site, which you can find at the Washington park list (click "Complete Park Information" in the navigation menu, bottom left, to get complete information).

All the information needed for the body, references, and other templates should be on those two sites. Don't miss the latitude and longitude near the bottom or it will display a useless generic message on the new page. I've set it up to use decimal latitude & longitude without compass directions so that they can be easily copied & pasted from the full GNIS record. The references are set up to take advantage of the new WP:LDR. Apologies that the text runs off the screen; I don't know how to make it not do that within the preformatted text tags without adding newlines that would then mess up the layout when new pages are displayed after wiki markup.

Finally, don't forget to add the WikiProject Washington template on the talk page if you create new pages for the parks, as well as checking that old link in the Protected Areas template now links to the new article! Thanks for any help; also, suggestions for improvements would be appreciated.
