Dis-Organization, anyone?[edit]

Any ideas - date? Location? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 05:08, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I won't be able to make it. Doubt it will be a BRC meetup. Next one of those is set to be next August, location TBD (probably NY). EVula knows the area well and could probably detail some great locations to choose from. Also check with Huntster. Lara 01:33, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Everything I can think of is a bar... --Smashvilletalk 03:01, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Cafe Coco's? Serves beer *and* food/coffee... -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 04:06, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm disorganised, so of course I'm up for it. Lara, it's a shame that the next BRC will be in NY...I was looking forward to a trip to Raleigh. Huntster (t @ c) 05:49, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If we were still meeting in Nashville, I think the Farmer's Market/Bicentennial Mall State Park would be the best place to meet. It's accessible from the interstate (about 1.5 miles) and not far from downtown. There's lots of parking (free). It's quite scenic and allows lots of photographic opportunities. During the day there are places to eat and sit and possibly use laptops, and outside lots of room to run. -- Riffsyphon1024 (talk) 23:10, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm now just a couple hours from Nashville (much longer drive before), so a one or two day trip is theoretically easy. I'm in San Fransisco at the end of this month and next month, after that the Fundraiser begins and I'll be swamped with full time work as well as the WMF work. January? I'll be there. Before that is only a maybe. Love to get back there though. Keegan (talk) 07:48, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, would anyone be interested in Huntsville? I can do the planning here. It's a equal drive (almost) from Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, Chattanooga, and another hour and a half for Knoxville. Thoughts? Keegan (talk) 07:55, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm in San Francisco now (working for the Foundation), so regretfully I won't be able to attend any meet-ups in Nashville :( I did manage to get some photos of the flood before I left though. Kaldari (talk) 23:43, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So far it looks like Huntster, Smashville, Keegan, Riffsyphon1024 and I are all able/willing to get the ball rolling. Can we pick a month as a starting point? My !vote is for April or late May - far enough away to make planning possible, and at a time of year that Nashville doesn't suck. If we can at least get a general idea of the date, I'll request a bot to spam invite further participation in selecting a place, etc. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 23:26, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pick-a-month[edit]

Please indicate all months that you think would work for a Nashville Meetup:

March
April
May
June
  • Most preferable considering I could be in another state for the first half of the year. -- Riffsyphon1024 (talk) 23:05, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any
  • Entirely dependant on circumstances of new job (if I get it). Huntster (t @ c) 06:21, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dependent on my schedule for a particular date. No particular block-outs. I'm less than an hour from Nashville. Currently I'm in Nashville one or two days a week. SBaker43 (talk) 04:29, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2011-06-25 Great American Wiknic[edit]

Specific Location:

Centennial Park can be pretty crowded, and it's going to be in the upper 80s (which isn't as bad as it could be). Cloudy in the morning, sunny with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon... that adds up to preferring something other than the large field (or at least near some cover for shade and dry). There's the Pavilion north of the train/jet fighter on the west side of the park, but I usually go there during the week, and I have no idea what the likelihood it is that it would be rented out on Saturday afternoon. Thoughts? JabberWokky (talk) 14:31, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Food:

Sarah and I are planning on bringing a Publix fried chicken meal (basically, a basket of chicken plus some sides) and the stuff to eat it. It feeds four to six... more if there are lots of sides. We'll try to bring some tea and cups, but if somebody else jumps in with cups, it would be great. JabberWokky (talk) 14:31, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Specific time:

Several places say 1:00pm, while others state it more vaguely. I'm assuming that 1:00pm is the start and all statements that are vague are just early, uncertain statements. JabberWokky (talk) 14:31, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Finding each other:

I'm a large guy who wears a big black outback hat and I have a full beard. Photo here. JabberWokky (talk) 14:31, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Update: We'll also try to have a sign that says [Wiknic] on it (assuming Publix or a drugstore along the way up West End to the park has poster board). JabberWokky (talk) 14:29, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
