Strawberry Festival coming soon[edit]

The Beacon Sloop Club (operator/owner of the Woody Guthrie) will be holding the annual strawberry festival 4 weeks from today, Sunday, June 11 in Beacon.[1] --Jeremyb (talk) 01:51, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds fun! I was potentially going to go to a WNBA basketball game that day but haven't bought tickets yet. I made the WikiData item for the club as a remote participant in this very edit-a-thon. The Beacon Sloop Club (Q117720892), thanks again for hosting @Emjackson42 @Windblown29, it was fascinating to learn more about Beacon. I'd certainly like to visit the Sloop Club someday. It also needs a picture or two, paging @Jim.henderson. Do you think it's notable enough for a stand-alone Wikipedia article @Jeremyb-phone? Wil540 art (talk) 15:06, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, we are also rapidly approaching Huckleberry season in College Point. I am unaware of any organized festival or even of anything ever published about it, and I didn't bike out there during the plague to pick wild berries. Alas, it has been years since my only reliable wild strawberry patch, on the bridge of the Old Putnam Railroad over Yonkers Avenue, was cleaned out.
