I have quite a few ideas on this, and will work on expanding this page along with anyone else who's got the time and energy :-) Privatemusings (talk) 01:12, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed: Children should be careful at Wikipedia, as on the web in general. Parents who think their children need protection should protect them. Wikipedia is not censored. (Total policy).

not sure who wrote this - but I think it's desirable to think a bit more about the issues - the approach you suggest seems to be a) a bit of a dull trump 'end of discussion' type card and b) abdicates responsibility unnecessarily Privatemusings (talk) 01:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea[edit]

It's important to consider the problem of the participation of vulnerable contributors such as children systematically, and not just from a privacy perspective. An important question to keep in mind early on is at what level – board, foundation, editing community etc. – various relevant issues are best addressed.  Skomorokh, barbarian  02:25, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This should perhaps be advertised on the village pump and other prominent places. Majorly talk 20:02, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

external meeting[edit]

Just a note to say that I'm meeting tomorrow with a volunteering body down here in australia, and hope to either get some good advice, or better yet, persuade some external experts to engage with this project :-) Privatemusings (talk) 01:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

it was interesting - more to come, but one immediate outcome was the strong advice 'you should never invite a volunteer to your home, or go to theirs' - this could help, longer term, establish good guidance for things like Meetups (which I have to say are trundling along with no reported problems as far as I'm aware).
