Pages Piles[edit]

What is it

PagePile manages lists of pages on Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons, etc. Many tools can take PagePile as input, or can generate it as output.

Cases
  • Focus versus collateral articles (requires clarity on what defines focus versus collateral)
  • Over time (pre-phase I, post phase I, post phase II, post phase III versus Pre-phase I and current)
Articles
  • Number of Wikipedia articles with new content from WIPO publication (focus and agg) : (easy : use of page piles, but new piles to be created each time)
  • Number of new articles : (easy, list to be established over time)
  • Pageviews across articles (daily, monthly, cumulated... ) (easy : use of mass views tools and/or Wikipedia API on a google doc example)
  • Total bytes added globally by a selection of editors (eg, WIPO editors) : (quite easy, through the outreach dashboard)
  • Internal links : for articles on the focus list (easy, link count example)
  • Increase in internal links to a selection of WIPO related pages (unsure : know how to do it at t time, not sure how to represent evolution...)
  • For articles on the focus list, details such as : page length, authorship, top editors, edit history (xtools)
  • Page views or articles across language (easy, page view analysis [1])
  • Quality assessment : from 0 to stub to C etc (Manually yes. Automated to explore).
  • Articles including large shunks of text from WIPO : Category:Free content from WIPO
  • All English articles page views : view
  • All French articles page views : view

  • Number of links from en.wikipedia to WIPO.int (easy example)
  • Mentions in WIPO website in sources
    • Can be done from a number of a specific publications example

  • BaGLAMa shows you page view numbers for pages on Wikipedia (and other Wikimedia sites) containing Wikimedia Commons files in a specific category.

  • GLAMorgan is an alternative to BaGLAMa and shows the view number of pages that include files from a specific Wikimedia Commons category.

  • Massview provides pages view for a collection of pages. It is possible to run the tool using pagepiles, which are lists of articles worked upon over time.
