The railroad of The Silverton Northern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of two main lines and a branch line of single-track narrow-gauge steam railroad, all in the State of Colorado, aggregating 17.211 miles. One main line extends from Silverton to Eureka, Colo., a distance of 8.445 miles, and the other extends from Silverton to Gladstone, Colo., a distance of 7.169 miles. The branch line extends from Howardsville to Green Mountain, a distance of 1.597 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 3.911 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 21.122 miles of all tracks.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated November 4, 1895, under the general laws of the State of Colorado. The date of its organization was December 20, 1895. The carrier acquired by purchase after foreclosure the property, rights, and franchises of the Silverton, Gladstone and Northerly Railroad Company. The latter company was incorporated April 6, 1899, under the general laws of the State of Colorado. Its property, rights, and franchises were sold at foreclosure on July 10, 1915, and were acquired by the carrier by deed dated July 23, 1915.
