The railroad of the Shelby Northwestern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, extending in a northwesterly direction from Shelbyville to Novelty, Mo., a distance of 20.963 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 0.631 mile of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 21.594 miles of all tracks owned.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated March 21, 1911, under the general laws of the State of Missouri, for the stated purpose of constructing and operating a railroad to extend from a point at or near Shelbyville to a point at or near the Shelby-Knox County line in Missouri. The date of organization was March 21, 1911.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The property of the carrier, amounting to 20.963 miles, was acquired by construction, which was performed under contract by Hunter-Houck Company during the period April, 1913, to June, 1914. The records reviewed indicate that the president of the carrier was associated with the contractor who constructed the road.
