The railroad of The Salina Northern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in Kansas. The main line extends from Salina northwesterly to Osborne, a distance of 80.796 miles. The carrier also owns 5.529 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 86.325 miles of all tracks owned.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated December 14, 1914, under the general laws of the State of Kansas for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Salina to Osborne, Kans., a distance of about 80 miles. The date of its organization was December 15, 1914. The charter of the carrier was amended March 8, 1915, to authorize an increase in the capital stock from $100,000 to $1,000,000.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, extending from Salina to Osborne, Kans., a distance of 80.796 miles, was all acquired by construction during the years 1915 and 1916. The carrier's railroad was constructed under contract by The Keystone Construction Company, which controlled the carrier during the construction period.
