The railroad of the Louisiana and Pike County Railroad Company, herein called the Louisiana and Pike County, is a single-track line located entirely within the State of Illinois and extending from Maysville to Pittsfield, 6.151 miles.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The Louisiana and Pike County was incorporated March 9, 1867, under a special act of Illinois, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from a point on the Mississippi River, opposite Louisiana, Mo., to Phillips Ferry, New Salem, or Mount Sterling, Ill. The date of its organization was March 29, 1867.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned road, extending from Maysville to Pittsfield, Ill., 6.151 miles, was all acquired by construction during the period July 24, 1869, to February 12, 1870, and was opened for operation on May 30, 1870. The records reviewed do not indicate whether the construction work was performed by company forces or by contract. There is a difference of 0.001 mile between the mileage recorded by this company, 6.15 miles, and the mileage, 6.151 miles, inventoried as of date of valuation.
