CORPORATE HISTORY

The Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago was incorporated April 18, 1877, under the general laws of the State of Missouri, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Mexico to Kansas City, Mo. The date of organization of the Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago was April 23, 1877.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road owned 156.875 miles, was constructed during the period February, 1878, to November, 1879, by the forces of The Chicago and Alton Railroad Company (of 1861). The road as originally constructed was 162.725 miles, of which 5.85 miles, including a portion of the right of way between Rock Creek Junction and Bridge Junction, Kansas City, was sold to the Kansas City Terminal Railway Company under the terms of an agreement of May 1, 1916, supplemented December 19, 1916.
