The East Jersey Railroad and Terminal Company, hereinafter called the carrier, operates 0.772 mile of main track, and 1.442 miles of yard tracks and sidings in Bayonne, N. J. Of the operated mileage, the carrier owns 0.258 mile of road and 0.136 mile of yard tracks and and leases 0.514 mile of road and 1.306 mile of yard track and sidings from the Tidewater Oil Company. All the land leased to the carrier is owned by the Tidewater Oil Company. The carrier provides a terminal switching service for various industries in Bayonne and a lighterage and transfer service in the harbor of New York City.

The carrier was incorporated March 11, 1901, under the general laws of New Jersey, and soon thereafter began the operation of certain connecting, siding, and switching tracks, which it leases from the Tidewater Oil Company. It appears from the annual reports of the carrier to this commission that the entire capital stock of the carrier is owned by the Tidewater Oil Company, for whom R. D. Benson and other directors hold the stock standing in their names. The entire control of this carrier is therefore in the Tidewater Oil Company.
