Location and general description of property.—The carrier owns and operates a passenger station and appurtenant facilities, including 6.617 miles of all tracks, of which 1.066 miles represented first main track, all situated at Chattanooga, Tenn. It also owns, but does not use, 0.972 mile of yard tracks and sidings which it leases to the Central of Georgia Railway Company, and uses but does not own, 1.243 miles of yard tracks and sidings which it leases from the same company. The carrier thus wholly owns and uses 6.617 miles of tracks, owns but does not use 0.972 mile of tracks, and uses but does not own, 1.243 miles of tracks, which are classified in the trackage table in Appendix 1.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated December 20, 1905, for an unlimited period, under the general laws of Tennessee, for the purpose of acquiring and maintaining railroad terminal facilities in and about the city of Chattanooga and State of Tennessee. The date of organization was December 21, 1905.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHY8ICAL PROPERTY

The facilities owned by the carrier on date of valuation were all acquired by construction, which was commenced about February, 1906. The property was placed in operation on December 1, 1909. Part of the construction work was performed by contractors, who were not affiliated with the carrier. It was not ascertained from the records reviewed what part of the construction work was performed by each of the several contractors, nor what portion was constructed by the forces of the carrier.
