40 Commando[edit]

I am currently writing an article, however, I wasn't sure what the composition of 40 Commando actually was.

  • Commando HQ
  • Alpha Company
  • Bravo Company
    • 4 Troop
  • Charlie Company
    • 7 Troop
    • 8 Troop
    • 9 Troop (FSG)
  • Delta Company
  • Command Company
    • Recce Troop
    • Signals Troop
    • Mortar Troop
  • Logistics Company

This is the structure of the 'battalion-sized formation' and, after a bit of reading, I found out the subject of the article was in Delta Company. Does someone mind telling me about how many would be in this company, what the company might consist of, whether the company is a large or small company in the 40 Commando and what operations they might carry out? I understand this is a very specific question. Thanks Willbb234 (talk) 10:07, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Does Company (military unit) help? It has a section on British usage. --Jayron32 13:43, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It also significantly depends on which year or era you're interested in. To wit, the Royal Marines recently reorganized their structure. Here's a white-paper, COMMANDO 21: An Increase in Combat Power and Flexibility, available through DTIC (the American defence department's online library), linked from our article. This is part of what I would lump under the overall modernization of doctrine called combined arms: sub-units do not necessarily have a specific assigned task. So, in 1980, you might have had a rifle company (A) and a dedicated anti-tank company (D), and so on... the theory was that the battalion headquarters maneuvered the anti-tank company in to position if it noticed enemy tanks. But by 2010, when the likelihood of encountering an opposing armored column was pretty unreasonable - at least in the active war-zones - it made a lot more sense to allocate the equipment and training in a different fashion.
It's a pretty sure bet that the specifics of the structure aren't common knowledge. If everyone knows that one sub-squad has three rifles and one squad machine gun, then the enemy also knows that, and can adjust its squad-size to outnumber them; if they know the equipment carried, they know exactly how far away they need to stay out of range; ... and so on. So, broad brush-strokes and theoretical answers...

Cannabis liqueur[edit]

There are apparently cannabis liqueurs such as this Croatian Vutra. Do they actually contain THC that makes you high or are they just cannabis-flavoured? JIP | Talk 19:43, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This article looks like it might be useful for you. --Jayron32 19:45, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
