August 30[edit]

Tribal[edit]

Are there any prominent examples of incidents where individuals dislike their own country, tribe etc. to the point where they support the opposing side in a war, cup final etc? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.215.59 (talk) 11:10, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

List of people convicted of treason has some. Staecker (talk) 12:14, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also see such topics as Self-hating Jew etc. I am unsure that this is exactly what you were looking for, but many Japanese Americans and German Americans fought for the US in WWII against the Axis. Collect (talk) 12:26, 30 August 2015 (UTC) -[reply]
Lord Haw Haw was a notable example. Of course, these people's justification was that their own country was being mismanaged and losing a war would be beneficial in the long run. 18:45, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
Internalized homophobia is somewhat relevant. SemanticMantis (talk) 21:06, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ephialtes of Trachis is famous one. Adam Bishop (talk) 11:30, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The Howard W. Campbell, Jr. character from Slaughterhouse Five comes to mind. --Jayron32 12:35, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Close my Facebook Account[edit]

Someone is using my account to contact my friends about money. I want my account suspended for now until I think of opening another account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:4A:8002:41CC:4582:DB39:11A:5DEA (talk) 23:58, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that you contact Facebook then. [1] It has nothing to do with Wikipedia, so we can't help. AndyTheGrump (talk) 00:09, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you can still access the account, you should immediately change your password and make sure that the email address you provide is truly under your control. That should suffice. But if things are somehow more desperate than that, then click SETTINGS in the menu bar, then General, then Delete my account - you have 14 days to change your mind. Of course, if you've truly lost control of the account - then you'll either be unable to do any of those things - or the bad guy can undo whatever you do. You can also create your new account and then use SETTINGS/General/Merge Accounts to merge in your old account. But honestly, make sure that your email address is secure (change THAT password), then change your facebook password - and you should be OK. Of course it's possible that someone has hacked your computer - or that you need to change the password to that too (and set up the machine to lock the screen within a couple of minutes of disuse if you have a errant sibling or roommate). It very well could be that you have given permission to a third party to do this. Those videos that you have to click on "OK" to view, or the "tests" that you can take, will often ask permission to post on your wall. When you permit this, you are asking for this kind of problem. It's often pornographic videos on Facebook that you have clicked on to view. Check your permissions, and revoke the permissions of any app or page that you don't recognize. 217.158.236.14 (talk) 11:28, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
