Zombies memo[edit]

Further to the entertaining thread above regarding Zombies, I have a vague memory of a (British?) government memo, written by a bureaucrat in bureaucratese, about the dangers/response to Zombie attack on a city - possibly London. Tie[edit]

I was watching an episode of SVU and this character has an unusual type of tie. Does anyone know what it is? It seems to be completely connected to the shirt/blouse. Here is the link. Thanks! 86.148.136.141 (talk) 17:32, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like a variation on a bow tie, for women. It also doesn't look permanently attached, to me, but perhaps it threads through the buttonhole at the top of the blouse. It seems to be made of leather. StuRat (talk) 18:25, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to be called a "crossover tie" or a "continental crossover" tie, and is usually worn with a stand-up, banded collar in some variations of "black tie" formal dress. See the end of the section on ties in this article for one form. Bielle (talk) 18:48, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure of the name, but this sort of tie is common for females when wearing military dress uniforms, or the equivalent (i.e. police dress uniforms). See [4] and [5] and [6] for more examples. Wikipedia has some examples at Army Service Uniform as well, it seems that the U.S. Army Class "A" ASU for females can be worn with multiple styles of tie, and this (as yet unnamed type) is one of them. --Jayron32 19:33, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
