What is a concrete function?[edit]

In the article function, it mentions a "concrete function", with no explanation of what this is. Can someone give an explanation? And what is the best way to incorporate this into the article? - 110.20.126.106 (talk) 13:09, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think from context "concrete" just means a specific function, as opposed to a general function (as in "let f be a polynomial function on Z"). I have changed the article to make this clearer. Gandalf61 (talk) 13:56, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Concrete" can mean a lot of different things. Google on "concrete child" and you get two entirely unrelated concepts, one having to do with Jean Piaget's model of stages of intellectual development, as opposed to an "operational adolescent", and the other having to do with object-oriented design, as opposed to an "abstract parent".
