Where are the numbers from?[edit]

Flag[edit]

There was a protest outside the Chinese Embassy yesterday. The participants were holding a flag which was light blue with a crescent moon. It was very similar to the Turkish flag but blue. Please can someone held identify this flag as I have not been able to find this is list of flags of the world. Thanks. Modern description of William the Conqueror[edit]

I would like to ask if William the Conqueror really was such a heartless tyrant when he became king. There are things, of course, that speak for it like the slaughtering in the North, the expropriation of the Anglo-Saxons aristocracy (or most of them, i'm not sure) or killing Harold Godwinson at Hastings and unjustly (also not entirely sure on that) sizing the throne and furthermore. However, most sources about William I came across have been heavily biased (some praise him, others demonize him) or partially contradict with each other. Please, could someone give me a possibly unbiased answer?

Orderic Vitalis was a near-contemporary historian who was generally positive about William, but thought the Harrying of the North was unjust: "I have often praised William in this book, but I can say nothing good about this brutal slaughter.
