Continuity of the X-Men films[edit]

I am confused about exactly where the film Logan fits into the continuity of the X-Men films. Can someone please explain this for me? Freeknowledgecreator (talk) 01:31, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This article will gives several possible timelines but I suspect there are plenty of other theories out there. MarnetteD|Talk 01:40, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Den of Geek link works hard, but it seems to conflate retcons with history that has been deliberately changed. When First Class got made, they made the decision to not consider it a reboot/retcon, but rather an... expansion of what the first set of movies had done. However, while doing that, they introduced changes that really in no way fit into what had gone before (Mystique's attack on Xavier in the first movie really jars now). So, the question is not so much which timeline Logan belongs to, it's whether the events in the first set of films should be considered part of the "new" storyline shown by the current movies or not. That is, does Magneto's attack on the Statue of Liberty still take place, despite what's shown in FC, DOFP, and Apocalypse? If it does, then Logan takes place in the single timeline shown as part of every movie in the series with the exception of the "future" scenes in Day of Future Past, which is now an alternative timeline. If the Statue of Liberty thing does not happen in the FC, DOFP, Apocalypse timeline, then all bets are off. :) Matt Deres (talk) 20:36, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You are assuming that the X-Men films actually have continuity. --Khajidha (talk) 13:04, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
