Identify a song lyric: madness in groups, recover sanity individually[edit]

I saw a quote from Charles Mackay's book Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds: "Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."

I seem to recall a rock song lyric that was essentially a paraphrase of that statement, but I can't remember what it is. (The artist that first comes to mind is Simon & Garfunkel, but I have no idea if that's accurate.) Does anyone remember a song like that? Lady Gaga's Bad Romance & Bach[edit]

Lady Gaga's song Bad Romance uses an introduction, sampling Johann Sebastian Bach's fugue in B minor from the Well-Tempered Clavier. But is also the song's hookline ("Rah rah ah-ah-ah! Ro mah ro-mah-mah! Gaga ooh-la-la!") based on a Bach piece? Some musical mashups made me think so, e.g. these Italian a cappella Singers, or those piano practitioners playing "Bad Romance based on a Bach fugue".
