Guitar riffs in American action films[edit]

I got an impression that now there are very few standalone guitar riffs that were so widely used for the emphatic moments in the US action films of late 80s and the entire 90s (as in Hard to Kill, for example). I think you're going to have a very hard time coming up with anything like a reliable source on this, but an interesting data point would be this reference, which suggests that the habit began with James Bond composer John Barry. There seems to be a bit of consensus that it simply got too tired. This is an example among many similar listicles. Matt Deres (talk) 15:04, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
