September 17[edit]

The Confederates sing that they will rally 'round the "Bunny Flag?" How come?[edit]

Listen here: "We will rally 'round the Bunny Flag, we'll rally once again..."

Why would it be a "Bunny Flag?" I don't think their aura would fit anything to do with bunnies, now would it? Thanks. --69.77.96.200 (talk) 00:06, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure it's "Bonny Flag" from the Scots word "Bonny" meaning beautiful. There were many Scottish and Scots-Irish in the Southern U.S. and such cultures had a strong influence on the music of the south. --Jayron32 00:14, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's a parody of the Union song "Battle Cry of Freedom"; see that article's second section. Another common use of "Bonny" in this context is "Bonnie Blue Flag", another Confederate song. Nyttend (talk) 01:10, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, Nytt, but that BB Flag seems to strike the resemblance of the Somali Flag. If it's not vandalism, what's the story behind their similarities? Did the Somalis adopt this design? (What inspired their design, if not?) --2602:30A:2EE6:8600:2502:8B00:D3F5:FF5 (talk) 04:20, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Somali flag offers an explanation of its symbolism, but there's no suggestion it was inspired by the Confederate one. -Karenjc 06:48, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
When I took the trash out at my parent's this weekend the yard was full of bunnies. It reminded me of The Birds. I could see them adopting a flag. μηδείς (talk) 01:20, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, indeed. Send them this one. Looks quite right, I might add! Beautiful! --2602:30A:2EE6:8600:2502:8B00:D3F5:FF5 (talk) 04:31, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that is quite nice for these sort of "garden flags" or whtever they are called (What are they called?), which I normally find atrocious. Doesn't hurt Watership Down is in my list of top fantasy novels of all time. μηδείς (talk) 03:13, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Subject: Happy Birthday kid[edit]

Hi I recently created a new account, but had a previous account under the username jerry didonato, but I had been inactive for awhile on Wikipedia in the past, so I forgot my account info & decided to create a new account. Back on Dec. 30 2010 I created a topic on musical artist Geoff Hughes, topic read: Happy Birthday kid was a 1981 pop song from the artist Geoff Hughes, off his 1981 debut self-titled LP. Now this article to my knowledge has been deleted and doesn't exist. Can you tell me why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeremiah didonato (talkcontribs) 04:24, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was only created in your user space, not as an article, looking at the contributions to Wikipedia you made under that account. It hasn't been deleted. Nanonic (talk) 06:35, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday kid[edit]

That goes to show you that I'm a rookie when it comes to Wikipedia, anyway thanks for the feedback Nanonic. Now can I repost that topic on Geoff Hughes on the main Wikipedia page, under my current account? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeremiah didonato (talkcontribs) 13:18, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Music isn't my field of expertise, but I'm inclined to think no. The guidelines are at WP:MUSICBIO. Unless the RPM Top50 singles[1] is considered a national chart, I'm not sure how he would qualify. Clarityfiend (talk) 14:09, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
