A film that Depicts the battle in the Reichstag?[edit]

Is there any film that Depicts the fighting inside the Reichstag in WW2? thanks. Ben-Natan (talk) 11:26, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Fall of Berlin (film) has three of the cast planting the Victory Banner on top of the Reichstag. However, it's a bit of a Soviet propaganda vehicle, so I wouldn't expect too much realism. The score is by Dmitri Shostakovich, so it can't be all bad. I wouldn't dream of suggesting that you search for it on a well known video sharing site, using the Russian title shown in the lead of our article. Alansplodge (talk) 18:15, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I take some of that back; "The film's remarkable recreations of the battle for Berlin, climaxing in the bitter struggle over the Reichstag, impressed even the film's Western critics with their gritty realism and sheer spectacle". [1] Alansplodge (talk) 18:19, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A more modern take might be Die letzte Schlacht (2005); a drama documentary. This forum has some details. Alansplodge (talk) 18:47, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vechicle in RED 2 Movie[edit]

In the movie, "RED 2" there is a blue sports car that Helen Mirren is shooting 2 guns out of. I am trying to find out what type of car it is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.49.56.72 (talk) 12:48, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This Wall Street Journal blog post] says a Lotus Exige S plays prominently in the film. The car in this trailer, visible briefly around the 2:10 mark, looks like it could possibly be an Exige, but it's hard to tell. The car in the clip seems wider and more rectilinear than the photos of the Lotus in the WP article, but maybe a flattening effect from the camera?. The link to the trailer also says "...it isn't long before 67-year-old Dame Helen Mirren is shooting guns out from a drifting Italian sports car," but I'm not sure how accurate that "Italian" claim is. The car in the clip is right-hand-drive, which suggests a British manufacturer. I'm not finding any sources that state definitely what the car in that particular scene might be. --some jerk on the Internet (talk) 13:46, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to try to use the site while at work, but the Internet Movie Car Database [www.imcdb.org] is usually a good resource. 209.131.76.183 (talk) 16:51, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Normally I'd recommend that site too, and while they have a page for RED [2], I don't think they've done one for RED 2 yet. -- Finlay McWalterTalk 16:59, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See also European Car Magazine - 5 Cool Lotus Exige S Facts from "Red 2" which says; "A Lotus Exige S is ‘borrowed’ by character Han to help Victoria (Helen Mirren) escape a gun battle at the Iranian Embassy in London. After a highway chase sequence which sees the nimble Exige S hide under a moving 12-wheel truck, the Exige S darts in front of the truck, but the Range Rover can’t match its agility and ends up rolling along the highway on its roof." Ballet music[edit]

01:00 to 01:13 What is the ballet music here? DreadRed (talk) 23:55, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed the ad for Symphony No. 1 in G minor was a big clue. It sounds very much like what you hear in this rendition of Tchaikovsky's work at around the 1:09 mark. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:23, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The solo ballerina is dancing to something different. DreadRed (talk) 12:41, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's from Swan Lake - I don't know how to add a link to U tube, but if you go to "Swan Lake by American Ballet Theater in 2005", it appears at 55.50 Widneymanor (talk) 21:21, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you, I've got it. I have never seen a ballerina kick so effortlessly above her head as the Russian one does. Of course it comes from a lifetime of effort for her! Beautiful, and thanks again. DreadRed (talk) 08:55, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
