What's the name of this referee? (Euro 2012 Ukraine vs Sweden)[edit]

Hello, what's the name of the referee next to Shevchenko? Cüneyt Çakır, Bahattin Duran or Tarik Ongun? — Preceding unsigned comment added by KaterBegemot (talkcontribs) 11:07, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure it's any of the three? In the final seconds of [1] I can see five referees next to Shevchenko at the Ukranian national anthem. [2] includes "Additional assistant referees Hüseyin Göçek (TUR), Bülent Yıldırım (TUR)". It looks like Hüseyin Göçek [3] to me. See Assistant referee (association football)#Additional Assistant Referee for their role. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:53, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've just read the UEFA report about that game and thought he's one of three main referees. You're right, it's Hüseyin Göçek. Thanks! --KaterBegemot (talk) 12:15, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What happens to the 1985 baseball All-star game if the Twins move?[edit]

I recall the owner of the Minnesota Twins threatened to move the franchise - likely to Tampa - if the team didn't draw a million fans in 1984. As I understand it, major league baseball awards its all star game a couple years earlier; the 1985 game ws scheduled for Minnesota.

I can imagine the game was awarded partly to entice the team to stay, though Minnesota's last had been in 1965 so they were about due, anyway. But, did baseball have coningency plans if the Twins did move? Would it have been in Tampa? Or is it the city, not the team, which is awarded the game; hence there would have been a "game without a home team," perhaps a way to guage public interest in future expansion or relocation?108.75.253.132 (talk) 12:10, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Given the sheer amount of planning that goes into an All-Star game, including by the host city, it would not have been automatic. I think likely it would have been moved (St. Petersburg, actually) but probably there would have been a fair amount of discussion first. You might want to see if the Hall of Fame archives in Cooperstown has information. And it is the team which is awarded it, the one at old Yankee Stadium a few years back could not have been moved to Shea.--Wehwalt (talk) 12:17, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Number 1 singles on vinyl[edit]

A trawl of Google has not helped at all-so here goeth. What is the last UK Number 1 single to have been issued on 7" vinyl? The latest one I have is from 1994-I believe they may have continued doing it until the mid 90s at least. Lemon martini (talk) 16:49, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vinyl has been making a comeback, though usually in 33 format. I've seen fans lined up for autographs holding them. I doubt many get played somehow.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:17, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have a 7" of Don't Speak - number 1 in 1996, however I see D'You Know What I Mean? was number 1 in 1997. I suspect there are later ones; the links off the List_of_number-one_singles_(UK) page should help. There were certainly 12" releases of number 1's well into the 2000's. --TrogWoolley (talk) 21:56, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The best way of doing this is to cross-refer between those links (or this site, which I find easier to use) and Discogs, which lists all the formats for everything ever released. --Viennese Waltz 07:44, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
To narrow it down, our article on "Bulletproof (La Roux song)", number one in 2009, states that it was released on 7" vinyl. That doesn't leave many to check. Warofdreams talk 08:52, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sharing an amusing thought I just had reading this, does that make it the last of the vinyl no 1's or the first no 1 of the vinyl revival? Britmax (talk) 08:57, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know. Time to bring back Disco Demolition Night?--Wehwalt (talk) 12:49, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Telephone was released on 7". The song reached number one on 21 March 2010. - JuneGloom Talk 19:41, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Somebody That I Used to Know by Peter Gabriel by Gotye was released on vinyl this year and made it to number one, although of course, not by vinyl sales alone. (Sorry about the Peter Gabriel joke, but really, that was what I thought when I heard it the first time and got to the vocals in the chorus. Not an insult, by any means)FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:44, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Even after a million listens, I'm still convinced it's Peter Gabriel in disguise. Mingmingla (talk) 02:45, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Same here! --TammyMoet (talk) 09:00, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
