I read somewhere Tintin (character), although born in Belgium, was adopted by France. Is this true?24.90.204.234 (talk) 08:51, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by "adopted by France"? -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 12:33, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
According to the article you linked, his "Belgian identity is fairly explicit". Can you provide a reference for the French connection?--Shantavira|feed me 12:57, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can't remember a reference off the top off my head. Perhaps someone out there can help me remember. But according to an article about Fanny Rodwell, there's something that says it's a Franco-Belgian portal.24.90.204.234 (talk) 14:17, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to remember hearing it was big in France too. Tintin (magazine) describes a strong French influence and a separate French version of the magazine. --jjron (talk) 16:38, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The good people of Brussels have made Tintin one of their main tourist attractions[1]. I suppose it beats a very small statue of a boy taking a pee. Alansplodge (talk) 17:42, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This article says Tintin was deliberately designed to have no Belgian characteristics and didn't even speak Belgian French; the character of Tintin actually lived in France. --22:24, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
