what are the most important similarities and differences between theatre and movies?[edit]

please help! quickly! this is not homework! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.121.36.232 (talk) 06:28, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, one would hope this is stating the obvious, but one is played to a live audience and the other is pre-recorded. I'll leave it to you to work out which one is which :) --Richardrj talk email 09:18, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... both are scripted, one is live the other is recorded and edited, in movies the audience's experience is more controlled because the camera can show exactly what you want the audience to see. Movies can be available on different mediums: DVD, cassette, TV, cinema etc whereas theatre can only be seen live at a venue. Rfwoolf (talk) 09:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I’m curious as to why anyone would need to know the difference between THEATRE and CINEMA so urgently if it was not by reason of homework. Has someone invited you to the theatre and you need to know what you are going to? Just rem that you can roll Jaffas down the aisle at a cinema, but it is considered most improper to do so in a theatre. Also, you can have “legitimate theatre”, but there is no such thing as “legitimate cinema” as far as I know. —Myles325a (talk) 02:46, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One important difference is that I find it much harder to sit still for live entertainment. Dunno why. —Tamfang (talk) 17:57, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering why it was deleted...[edit]

Hey all! Awhile back I made a page highly detailed about the lead singer of band Dead Poetic. The singer's name was Brandon Rike, and I am wondering why it is not existing at this moment. Thank You. --Playjex (talk) 22:08, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it appears that it wasn't actually deleted, but turned into a redirect to the article for the band. Another editor seems to have decide that your article was not needed. If you go to [1] and click where it says "history" in a little tab at the top of the page you will see a list of the edits made to your page. Hope this makes sense and is helpful to you! Thanks man. Think I should make the page again, and if so how would I do so? I am fairly common to the Wiki controls but I use www.uesp.net. Thank You very much. --Playjex (talk) 22:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Basically band members only get individual pages if they have enough independent verifiable info about them you can draw on to warrant an article in their own right. An article like "Joe Bloggs is the lead guitarist of Average Garage Band. He's a founder member and has played with them ever since." isn't really useful so it gets redirected to the main band article. If you want to write an article on Brandon, you'll need to demonstrate that he really needs his own article, which means putting in relevant encyclopedic material that wouldn't be appropiate on the band page. In fact, I think he should have his own page for he owns his own company called Dark Collar. He plays in a band, stirred up alot of controversy about Dead Poetic, and owns his own company. Think I should create it, if so how? --Playjex (talk) 02:38, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are you Brandon Rike? Dark Collar doesn't appear to be notable. —Tamfang (talk) 18:00, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No I am not Brandon Rike. Simply a fan. --Playjex (talk) 18:28, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
