  • It serves an average of 1,433,252 passengers each weekday and is both one of the largest rapid transit and light rail systems in the United States by ridership. - "Both" is redundant.
  • Maybe it's just me, but the second paragraph of the lead reads more as a list than as prose. There's really nothing you can do about it, though.
  • 37 of the stations are within Los Angeles - Numbers that begin a sentence should be spelled out.
  • Unless I'm just missing it, the chart itself needs to be sourced.
  • Use non-breaking spaces if possible.

The first, third and fourth points have been fixed. I noticed the same problem with paragraph 2 of the lead and fixed it a little before I put this up for FLC, but ultimately there's nothing I can do about it. For the non-breaking spaces, though, I'm guessing that you're referring to the dates which are split between lines. (If I'm wrong, please tell me where you do want them.) If that's the case, using non-breaking spaces creates large gaps at the end of some lines; if that's okay, I'll use them. TheCatalyst31 Reaction•Creation 18:20, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thirty-seven of the stations are within Los Angeles - you may want to say here that it is the city of Los Angeles to differentiate from the county.
  • I notice that Hawthorne station does not seem to be in the city of Hawthorne but in Inglewood. Now this may be correct but if so then Inglewood is not mentioned in the prose list at the end of the lead.
  • The date opened column does not seem to be sorting correctly.
  • In the images it might be nice to wikilink the station names.
  • There seem to be slightly too many images and so for me the last one extends into Notes and References sections making them look slightly untidy.

  • Alt text can't be added to the map?
  • I'm not quite sure how one does alt text for a map. I suppose I could describe the positions of the lines, but I don't know how useful that would be.

  • These links aren't actually to rapid transit and light rail, they're piped links to the lists of rapid transit and light rail systems by ridership.
  • Since [Ref 1] verifies the entire first paragraph, just cite it once.

  • Unless I fixed this without realizing it, I don't think there is an extra space in the date.
  • The final Red Line extension opened on June 24, 2000, from Hollywood/Vine to North Hollywood, completing the Red Line as originally planned. -- Instead of opened it should be occurred
  • I reworded this one to something different, since I thought "occurred" sounded wrong in context.
  • A fourth Metro line, the light rail Metro Gold Line, opened on July 27, 2003, between Union Station and Sierra Madre Villa in Pasadena. -- Remove the comma before between, its not needed

  • Instead of citing like 10 refs in one column, have you considered using a general reference instead?

  • Well for those points you just wouldn't have a specific ref because when something isn't specifically cited and you have a general ref its automatically known that its cited by the general ref.   • Don't use "current" or "currently" unless the figures are changing rapidly. It's always better to remove it or provide a date. Two instances:
    • "The current Los Angeles County Metro Rail system map" Recommend using an {{as of}} statement or just removing "currently
    • "The system currently has 62 stations serving its five lines." Same as above.
  • "The system currently has 62 stations serving its five lines." Per WP:MOSNUM, comparable quantities should be written the same way. So, "62"-->sixty-two or "five"-->5
  • "the other 25 stations are located in the "-->the other twenty-five stations are located in the (for consistency in number formatting)
  • "surrounding cities of Long Beach, Pasadena, El Segundo, Compton, Downey, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lynwood, Norwalk, Redondo Beach, and South Pasadena."     • Link "km" in the lead.
    • I think having 5 references for the "city" column and 8 refs for the "date opened" column is not a good idea. Every time when I want to verify something, I have to go through 8 sources to find the one I want. Can you cite each ref next to each date, so that readers like me don't waste much time?
      • Actually, I think citing the dates/cities individually might create an even bigger navigation mess. If I did that, some of the references would be citing 15 or 20 different things, making it really hard to go back to one individual reference after clicking the reference.     • There's an inconsistency in station names. Why, for example, "Vermont/Sunset" doesn't have any spaces in between the slash while "Vermont / Santa Monica" has those spaces? Is there a specific reason?

    • There's an inconsistency in date formats. In the lead and the table, you have "month day, year" format while in the references you have "year-month-day" and "day month year" formats. It's easily fixable.

  • Comments - very nice, two very minor issues.
    • "7th St/Metro Center" and "Westlake / MacArthur Park" inconsistent spacings round the slash.

Comments from Hassocks - I am fond of station lists, and this is an excellent example. Just a few points/observations:

  • Some of the station names incorporate a "/". In some cases, this is spaced on each side; in others (e.g. Hollywood/Vine), it is not. Is this intentional (I suspect it is, but just need some clarification)?
  • This is intentional; it reflects the names of the articles, some of which are spaced and some of which are not. I'm not sure why that is, and the article titles should probably be standardized, but for now the list is just reflecting that.
  • I have fiddled around with the parameters in the "cite news" template to try to get the access date to show, but without success. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the template itself, because it's still working elsewhere: <ref name="CityMission">{{cite news|title=Church to be demolished|url=http://archive.theargus.co.uk/2006/3/31/209424.html|accessdate=2009-03-08|author=Jan Melrose|date=2006-03-31|publisher=Newsquest Media Group|work=[[The Argus (Brighton)|The Argus]]}}</ref> (from here) renders like this:[1]

Maybe needs more investigation.
The dates are showing for me, though they weren't last week. Not quite sure what's going on there.
  • This sentence is a bit ungainly: "The rapid transit Metro Purple Line, the fifth Metro line, was created on August 24, 2006, when LACMTA separated the Red Line into two separate lines; the branch between Union Station and Wilshire/Western became the Purple Line, while the branch between Union Station and North Hollywood remained the Red Line." I agree with the semicolon, but commas and the word "Line" appear rather frequently. Not sure how to reword.
  • I've reworded it, tell me what you think of the revision.
  • "Eight of these stations are termini, stations at the end of lines." Try a dash instead of the comma.
  • Fixed.
  • Nice images; the strip-down-the-right format is good. (Wilshire/Vermont looks awfully like this station, incidentally.) There aren't any overlapping or other formatting problems on my monitor resolution. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 19:44, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
