Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas[edit]

Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas is an in-depth look at this Dallas, TX Jesuit institution. It is one of the most comprehensive articles for a high school, and its authors have spent a lot of time improving it. (Dustimagic 18:31, 3 December 2005 (UTC))[reply]

  • I've just removed most of the article as a copyvio from the school site, so there's not much left to look at. Kirill Lokshin 19:23, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Great, by removing the material the article is now nothing more than a stub. I would have to object to this article's nomination until someone can expand it and throw in some references. Pentawing 19:55, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Object. Not enough copyright violations. -Silence 20:38, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I thought they may have been being sarcastic. I looked at the images but they are all PD, I also randomly searched for some text on Google and it only came up with the article itself. So I have no idea what he meant [shrugs]. --Oldak Quill 19:53, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Object. Needs severe wikification, cleanup and copy-edit. One image need formatting properly (in a frame and with a caption). There is only one reference (simply the name of the school?). Has a long way to go, refer to WP:Peer review. — Wackymacs 22:23, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Object. Although I nominated the article, I now object to its nomination because, well, nothing is left of the article. Hopefully, the institution will issue some type of approval of the usage of the copied material that was once in this article. Then, with some further editing, this article could be an article worthy of being a featured article. Dustimagic 23:21, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Object. I did see this article prior to the copyright violation noted by Kirill Lokshin, and noted that it was worded more like a promotional piece than a truly encyclopedic entry. What it was also missing were things like the following:
    • Expand more upon the history: who founded it and why, not just when and how its name was changed
    • Listing of famous alumni
    • Listing of the School's principles/headmasters/presidents/whichever title is applicable
    • Other affiliated Jesuit schools
  • This sort of information would definitely be available with a little bit of research or fieldwork around your campus. I would encourage you to do some digging and try again. I would also take a look at some other academic institution's Wikipedia entries for further guidance: University of Toronto, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or closer to home for you, University of Texas at Dallas. These are all comments, by the way, you would have gotten had you gone the typical route of running this by Wikipedia:Peer_review first. Best of luck for next time! • Comment: Have a look at Portal:Schools or Caulfield Grammar School, the only featured high school article, for an idea of the standard require for real recognition of quality among school articles. Good luck. Harro5 07:41, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
