Good morning. Would it more more appropriate that I add some of this material to what exists regarding PCA events in the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_particle_event? I could easily do that. It's not about having my own article...it's about having as much correct info out there as possible. Thanks. Zuzufam (talk) 15:04, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zuzufam, it's most times easier to add to an existing article then create a new one due to the notability requirements for a new article. And if theres more content later on it can always be split into a separate one. Nobody (talk) 19:34, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Roger that. I did go ahead and make sweeping edits to the original draft. I focused entirely on three references that, I believe, will meet the requirements of in-depth and reliable. My hope is to initially get an approval for that, then I'll continue to add content and appropriate references along the way. Thank you for your feedback. Zuzufam (talk) 20:39, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the draft is unsourced and makes conclusions like "Apparently the initial distribution of SEPs is not homogeneous. As such, absorption due to PCA events is initially not uniform throughout the region, described as being somewhat "patchy." Over time as the PCA event matures the effects expand to fill the polar cap. As the event dissipates over time the patchy characteristic returns until the event concludes" and "Understanding the nature of PCA events allows those that rely on HF communications to prepare for and adapt to communications disruptions due to PCA events. Understanding the mechanisms that cause PCA events allows space weather forecasters to assist those that rely on HF communication to have advanced warning of PCA events and forewarning of potential consequences." Things like "The OCB is critical to other topics in space physics including planetary magnetospheres and magnetosphere-ionosphere (M-I) coupling" needs attribution (according to whom). thanks. Those are things I can work with. I have an abundance of sources. An abundance. Thanks. Zuzufam (talk) 20:50, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
…just please don’t speedy delete so I can work on it. Thanks. Zuzufam (talk) 21:05, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Polar Cap Absorption (PCA) Events requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=8924&context=etd. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. This is my work. Digital Commons is the Institutional Repository for Utah State University students. The article I'm preparing is taken directly from my PhD research. They are, in fact, my words. On the Digital Commons website it states this under Permissions: "Effective January 2021, content in the IR will be available under open licensing or Creative Commons By Attribution (CC-BY) Licenses unless noted otherwise in individual items." If it need to cite my work specifically that 's fine, I can do that. How do I proceed? Thanks. Zuzufam (talk) 23:45, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zuzufam, I did not notice this discussion until after I declined the draft. Please see WP:EXPERT for some guidance. Citing yourself is discouraged. Best to use other sources and/or sources that have cited your work and summarize what they say. If your work has not been widely cited, then it should likely not be used here and certainly should not basis for article. S0091 (talk) 19:13, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I guess what I don’t understand is that my original work is, in essence, a Wikipedia article, especially the introduction. I took many different sources, most very well known and respected, and using my own words brought them together to introduce the topic I would be covering in the original research. I don’t mention anything at all in the Wiki article about my research, only the review material used to introduce the subject and why it is relevant. Isn’t this the essence of a Wiki article? Any additional guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Zuzufam (talk) 19:52, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Zuzufam. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Equine-man (talk) 06:27, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. The article is about an important physical phenomena that under certain conditions has been shown to disrupt radio communications, especially for radio waves that propagate through north and south polar regions. The existing article (rather sub-article) is good but lacks much additional info so I figured I could use my expertise and familiarity with the subject to expand the topic to a full-fledged article. It is not an article about me. I receive no compensation regarding this subject. It is purely providing scientific knowledge in a (hopefully) readable format to benefit as many readers as possible. Thanks. Zuzufam (talk) 15:01, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just a quick thank you for sending in the email regarding copyright. The template from me above was just a guide so you can familiarise yourself with the rules. I know how difficult it can be, I’ve had to on three occasions cite my own peer reviewed articles as no others were available on a subject matter. Equine-man (talk) 15:36, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks..It's a work in progress... Zuzufam (talk) 15:42, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
